Russian Porcelain
The Lomonosov Porcelain Company, located in St.Petersburg, Russia, was established in 1744 by Empress Elizabeth, daughter of Peter the Great, and is one of the oldest porcelain factories in Europe. The original creations were very expensive and sold only to the Tsar’s court. One of the first creations was a porcelain bear with a special glaze created by the scientist Dmitry Vinogradov.
Today, the tradition of making porcelain animals continues with over three hundred types of figurines being made. Tableware and tea and cofee sets are also made under the LFZ trademark. Every piece is hand made using the original technology and is carefully painted and glazed. Great pride is taken to be sure the figures meet the high standards first set by the Imperial Romanov family.
